About SafariRoamer
SafariRoamer is an independent reference guide to safari destinations across East and Southern Africa — park fees, timing, health and entry requirements, and camps and lodges. It is not a travel agency, and it does not sell bookings.
What "verified" means on this site
Every accommodation listed here was checked against at least two independent sources before publication: normally the property's own site and one genuinely separate listing — an operator's, a conservancy's, or a specialist agent's. Where those sources disagree on a fact, both figures are shown, with the disagreement stated plainly rather than resolved by guessing. A number of properties carry a room count marked unverified for exactly this reason.
Three things this site will not do:
- Invent a price. A nightly rate is published only when a source actually states one. Where nobody publishes a rate, the page says so rather than estimating.
- Invent a coordinate. A location is only pinned to the map when a reliable source published that exact coordinate. Estimating one from a description risks placing a pin in the wrong valley.
- Present a stock photograph as the property. The photographs on accommodation pages are stock images of the surrounding landscape, chosen to suggest the kind of country a property sits in — never the property itself, and always captioned as such. A photo library records the photographer, not the place, so we cannot verify where any of them was actually taken.
How fee and park pages are built
Where official authorities publish conflicting figures — a park fee quoted differently by two sources, say — this site's approach is to show the arithmetic rather than pick a winner. The most common cause, seen repeatedly across Tanzania's and Kenya's park fees, is that one authority publishes a rate exclusive of VAT and another publishes the same rate inclusive of it. Once that basis is stated, the figures agree. Every fee page names its source and the date it was last checked against that source.
No commission, no booking funnel
SafariRoamer earns nothing from the properties or operators it writes about. There is no affiliate link, no booking commission, and no paid placement anywhere on this site. Where a page links to a property's own site, it is a plain reference, not a monetised one.
What this site is not good for
This is a reference site, not a first-hand review site. Nobody on this team has stayed at the properties described here, and the photography says so honestly. For a first-hand account of a specific camp — what the food is actually like, how the guiding compares — a specialist agent or a traveller's own review is a better source than this site, and several are linked from the relevant pages.
Corrections
Figures move: park authorities revise tariffs, properties change hands, room counts change with renovations. If something on this site is out of date or wrong, we want to know about it and would rather be told than be quietly incorrect. Write to no_repl@safariroamer.com.
